Change4Life supermeals campaign

Change4Life supermeals campaign
January 17, 2012

On January 2nd, Change4Life launched its New Year campaign to help people plan affordable healthier meals. The Supermeals campaign will see supermarkets across England offering money off healthy ingredients, such as fruit and veg and low fat yoghurts.

To help people plan healthier meals, Change4Life has published a cookbook – in collaboration with literacy charity Quick Reads – featuring recipes from celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott who is an ambassador for the campaign. The cookbook will be available free with a voucher from the Daily Mirror at Asda supermarkets across the country from 20thJanuary. It contains a month’s worth of popular, healthy recipes all for under a fiver to help families make the most of the super deals available at their local stores.

Meal planners featuring 14 healthier versions of popular recipes such as fish pie and sweet & sour chicken will also be sent out to Change4Life supporters and a new online recipe finder will help families plan their meals (www.nhs.uk/change4life).

The campaign comes as new research from Change4Life shows that UK households can save an average of £1500 a year and eat healthier by simply planning their weekly supermarket shop. An average saving of £15 a week - almost £800 a year - was made from reducing the numbers of takeaways and meals out by adults and families.
